Teacher Spotlight - Sevedello Gutierrez
Hi, I’m Sevedello Gutierrez. I am new to RMAE this year.  I grew up in Pueblo CO, and have been teaching for 22 years in Pueblo and Thornton.  I am endorsed in both secondary Math and Science. I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, biking, and hanging out with my wife and daughter. I have a pomeranian, a green cheek conure, and a cat that just passed. My parents, brother and sister all live in Denver so we get together quite often. My favorite food is seafood, especially if it is cooked cajun style.  My favorite book series is the Lord of the Rings and I am looking forward to the new series coming to prime video.  I hope this year will be my most productive. It has been an exciting start and I feel lucky to join such an amazing group.

3rd Grade worked on their maker skills making abstract sculptures in Technology class with Mr Dunbar.
8th grade math just started a project where they're building a blueprint of a water park and finding slopes/equations between attractions.
Students are learning the history of Lacrosse. As well as, the rules, positions, and how to play the sport. Did you know the sport was created almost 1,000 years ago by the American Indians? It was created as a “medicine game” - to bring peace between two tribes. Lacrosse is the oldest sport on our continent.
Here are pictures of Ms. Helkey’s 3rd grade class learning the 4 positions: attacker, defender, midfielder, and goalie.
1st Grade made bug prototypes from drawings they created in Mr Dunbar's Technology class.

Family Summary of the October Board Meeting
The meeting started with an update from the Student Council's new President, Charlotte DeFren, and Vice President, Avery March.  The student council has an exciting Haunted Hall in store for Trunk or Treat.

Did you know as a public charter school we only receive about 2/3rds of the state funding that non-charter schools receive?  This is why Annual Giving is SO important. We are looking for 100% school participation and the leading class in participation will receive a special prize.

Our Student Advisory Council (SAC) has put together a plan to deliver against our lofty, but achievable academic and community engagement goals.  Educational excellence is a paramount strategic pillar at RMAE.

The next regular board meeting is on November 10th, 2022, at 6:30 PM, in The Den. Come join us and learn about all that is happening at RMAE.
