A message from Dr Hudson
Hello RMAE families,
It is truly an honor and privilege that you have entrusted your child’s education with us. As such, we take a team approach to best support your child so please don’t hesitate to reach out to our teachers throughout the year. The staff contact information is on our website under “About RMAE” then “Faculty and Staff.” We look forward to seeing you at our Back to School Night on Wednesday, Sept. 14 th 6:00-7:30. You will have an opportunity to learn about the core and STAMP classes as well as experience firsthand our staffs’ positive energy, dedication, and nurturing approach in supporting all students. To help with parking please consider carpooling with a friend. For those who can’t make it, all teachers will be posting their presentations on their google classroom. If you have any questions, contact your child’s teacher.
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Ann Hudson
Teacher Spotlight - Ian Dunbar
Howdy RMAE Community,

For those of you I have not met, my name is Ian Dunbar. For nearly 7 years, I have served as the Technology Teacher here at RMAE. In short, this means I have the coolest job and classroom at the school. My students build robots and lego projects, design houses and skyscrapers out of cardboard, learn how to use tools with confidence and safety,  and work together as a group to solve complex problems.  My main goal as a teacher is to get students excited about the process of making (code, woodwork, electronics, cardboard creations, architecture, the list goes on...) , and arming them with the knowledge and tools to go forth and create with confidence.

In addition to teaching Tech, I also teach Fine Woodworking as an elective in our newly minted woodshop next to the Tech Lab. Fine Woodworking is one of my life's passions at home, and it brings me tremendous joy to teach this class to RMAE Middle School students.

When I am not at RMAE, teaching students how to make cool stuff, I can be found either on the water in search of fish on the fly, or in dusty confines of my home woodshop building furniture.

Should you have questions, or just want to talk about woodworking, please email me at [email protected]. I'd love to hear from you.

All the best,

-Ian Dunbar-

Please see below for an update and message from one of our families who has a son in first grade who has been battling cancer:

Many of you know about our journey with Wesley and how amazing he is and how he is doing throughout this entire process. I am first of all, so proud of him and how he has handled all of this adversity throughout the last several months.

Due to Wesley's treatment, I am not 100% confident that we will be able to walk this year in his honor, however we would love for all of you to take a look at his page and donate to him on behalf of childhood cancer and LLS. Light the night is scheduled for September 22, 2022 at Wash Park. Below is the link to Wesley's direct page.

We also have T-shirts that have been made in his honor, that he designed himself thanks to an amazing designer, Chris Espinoza! Thank you Chris!  Our goal, when Wesley is feeling better and on an extended road to recovery, is to start a non-profit organization that will empower children and families to heal, be blessed with financial assistance to help cover needs including groceries, family activities, local entertainment and any other challenges we all face when focusing and loving on our children with illnesses. I have a goal of having local families feel heard, loved and embraced without shame in asking for help or a financial break throughout their journey.

If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Light the Night in honor of Wesley's journey.

Thank you all so much for your support
