Classroom News

Mrs. Johnson’s class has teamed up with Mrs. O’Connor’s environmental sustainability and policy making elective to figure out how much plastic our school uses in an attempt to curb that number. On Tuesday, the elective class went to the cafeteria and collected plastic ziplock bags and other plastic that could have been recycled from k-3 lunch and middle school lunch. Now, Mrs. Johnson’s class is using scientific notation and math facts to make posters to educate the school on our plastic waste.

You can do your part to help us decrease our one use plastic waste by:

- Packing your student’s snacks in reusable Tupperware instead of ziplocks

- Making sure your student knows what in their lunch can be recycled

- Sending their lunch in a lunch box or reusable bag instead of in a plastic grocery bag

- Taking your plastic grocery bags to be recycled at the nearest Safeway or King Soopers

The 8th Grade Science class has been focused on the study of Forces as we start off the New Year. As part of their investigation, the students constructed Mouse Trap Cars to study how physics and Newton's Laws of Motion apply to the performance of the Mouse Trap Cars.  One class chose to compete for maximum distance, while the other class chose to compete for speed

Core Knowledge fact of the week: Are you smarter than a 8th grader?

In 1599, what did Shakespeare's theater company build?
