Teacher Spotlight - Carolyn Watts
Hello All!
My name is Mrs. Watts and I am currently one of the 5 th grade teachers at RMAE. I have been working in education for over 15 years with a variety of different age groups ranging from pre-kindergarten to 8 th grade. I have worked as both a classroom teacher and a middle school special education teacher. I absolutely love working with children! I especially enjoy helping them see all they are capable of accomplishing and watching them develop academic confidence. I live in Evergreen with my amazing husband, Chris Watts and my 2 marvelous children, Jackson (Senior at Ralston Valley High School) and Sammi (Sophomore at RVHS). I love the outdoors, coffee, chocolate, historical drama’s (particularly British period films- think- Jane Austin), flowers, camping, fishing, laughing and life. I am incredibly blessed to work with such gifted educational professionals every day.
I don’t often share a part of my life-story because it does not define who I am. However, upon recent reflection, I decided to. I share this for three reasons: We are all dealing with something. We all have struggles. We can all be kind.

I was very honored 3 years ago when I received the Jeffco Hero Award from the Jeffco School
Foundation for my work with students and families and my devotion to both. About 10 years ago, I became incredibly sick and ended up being diagnosed with a rare form of an autoimmune disorder called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Poly-neuropathy (CIDP). I have included the video which best explains why I continue to do what I do every day and why I will always encourage children to fight the hard fights, preserver and get back up when you fall all while being kind, respectful and reflective.
Thank you for letting me be a small part of your amazing child’s life.

Then he did a collage project with 5th graders and a photography project using instant cameras with 6th graders. Reid said we were the best classes he's had because students listened, we're engaged, and we're respectful.
