Sixth grade had Laura Shepard, the oldest daughter of Alan Shepard, come speak to our classes today. She spoke about her dad’s experience as an astronaut. He was the first American in space and he landed on the moon in 1971. Laura had the opportunity to go to space, along with five others, aboard the New Shepard, sponsored by Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space company.

Swim4life, located in Evergreen by Big R, came to speak to kinder-2nd grade today about water safety. May is water safety month and as we get closer to warm weather, I thought it would be a good opportunity for them to learn a little about staying safe around water.
They talked about the 2 P’s before getting in the water- (1) asking an adult for permission and (2) making a plan on how they’ll get out of the water.

The weather can't make up its mind what it wants to do at recess !

Resilience 1220 presented to our middle schoolers today about stress management. They learned what stress is, how it can be normal and helpful, how to cope with stress when it becomes overwhelming and what to do if they or someone they know are experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression.

MOMS NIGHT OUT (MNO) -- May 4th at Troutdale Tavern

Our second and final MNO of the year will be at Troutdale Tavern from 5-8 pm on May 4, 2023.

This event will be for current and prospective moms who want to socialize, get more information about our school, and meet new moms, as well as new PTO board members!
If you are interested in attending, please email or text Aja Cary with your name and if you are bringing a prospective mom. Also, please feel free to bring your toy for the Toy Drive at this event. I will be collecting them.

Big thanks to those who have already signed up! More slots need to be filled for April & May. Lunch volunteers distribute sandwiches on Mondays, pizza on Wednesdays, and frozen treats on Fridays. We especially need help on Mondays and Fridays.

Geocaching After School is back!!
When: Every MONDAY
Dates: March 27-May 22
Time: 3:30-4:30 - meet at the benches in front of Building 1
Grades: 2nd through 7th grade - kids need to be able to hike into Elk Meadow for up to 2-3 miles!

Future Cougars Volleyball camp for middle schoolers interested in volleyball. It is run by the varsity upperclassmen and will be a fun way to introduce anyone interested in volleyball to join.
