Board Meeting Summary

Family Summary of January Board Meeting

Together with staff, the Board would like to remind you to complete your Enroll JeffCo today or tomorrow.  We are expecting to have a wait list in several grades next year.  Please don’t delay!

The RMAE Elementary Choir led by Ms. Moritz gave an outstanding performance to open the January 9 Board Meeting.  The Treasurer’s report reflected a potential forecasted budget surplus for this year; however, the school is required to increase its cash on hand and retain required reserves in order to stay compliant and be eligible for future bonds at favorable rates.  Midyear testing results were reported.  A committee has been established to determine whether Reading Street is still the best curriculum for us.

Several teachers contributed to the public comment period, both to thank the school and parents for purchases and installations over the winter break, and to express concern over next school year’s updated personal time off policies.  The Board discussed these and similar concerns that were reported during a staff meeting prior to break and in follow-up emails.  We plan to use future working meetings to plan for improved communication and gaining teacher input to achieve our established goals for the remainder of this school year: 1) Improving teacher pay, 2) Establishing policies and procedures for a sick leave bank, 3) Designing and financing a multi-purpose building, and 4) Addressing teacher concerns such as misaligned focus on test results.

D.A. Davidson & Co. presented the results of their initial study on our options to both re-finance our school’s remaining debt from its initial build and provide the capital needed to achieve a future multi-purpose building.

Please join us for our next Regular Meeting on February 20, and please look for announcements regarding how you can provide input to the design process of a new multi-purpose building!
