Classroom News

Mr. Bryant and Local Astronomers set up telescopes for RMAE students to view the Transit of Mercury on Monday! Read about the details from Mr. Bryant HERE!  

 



Fourth Grade celebrated all they learned about Ancient China on Monday November 11 on their Ancient China Day. They dressed up and had a Chinese buffet for lunch, made recycled paper and painted calligraphy on it, played chop stick games, made terracotta clay warriors, lanterns, origami, sampled different teas,and  had an eyebrow and tattoo station too! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this celebration so much fun     


Congratulations to JD Dalton for having his artwork titled "The Colors of Colorado" displayed at the Colorado Art Educators Conference in Breckenridge. His artwork will be on display in the state capitol rotunda in the spring for Youth Art Month.


Students created their first Stop Motion videos in the Stop In Motion Elective!    


6th Grade engaged in Greek Games on Thursday in PE as a part of their Greece & Roman Empire unit!


As part of a Makerspace project on chemical reactions and states of matter, 5th grade students explore the "TEST" phase of the Engineering Design Process to fine tune their rockets propelled by Alka-Seltzer.



RMAE Student Highlight: Hayden Hyslop, an eighth grader on the RMAE math team, has been invited by the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) to participate at UNC in the second round of the 2019-2020 UNC Math Contest to be held January 25, 2020 in Greeley.  Hayden's invitation was extended based on her outstanding performance in the first round of the UNC contest, which was conducted in the last week of October.  The UNC contest is open to 7th through 12th graders with the same math problems given to all. Hayden is the first student from RMAE to be invited to participate in the second round of the contest. When you see Hayden or other members of the RMAE math team (Reagan Kipp, Kaylee Kipp, Lochlan Daronco, Cecilia Johns and Taylin Gimbel), congratulate them all and thank them for representing RMAE.  Their next competition will be the MathCounts competition at the School of Mines on February 7, 2020.

Mr. Dunbar is currently looking for used tool donations and lumber for his Woodworking Elective. If you have any spare lumber or tools that are currently gathering dust, Mr. Dunbar would be happy to re-purpose them in the hands of Middle School woodworking students.  Please contact Mr. Dunbar at [email protected] if you have any questions.



Parties for a Purpose: Friendsgiving Potluck Dinner
Eat, Drink and be Thankful! Join the Leach family for a Friendsgiving at their home on Friday, Nov. 22nd from 6PM to 9PM, dinner starting at 7PM. The Leachs will provide the turkey, rolls, a side dish, wine and kid drinks - as well as fun Thanksgiving craft station and plenty of games and toys for kiddos to be entertained! Time to gobble till you wobble! Purchase tickets ($25/family) on AtoZ > Store > Products > Parties for a Purpose. Once you complete your registration, please go to the Event Sign Up in AtoZ to sign up for a dish to bring.

RMAE Directories: Our RMAE family directories were sent last week to all families who purchased a 2019/2020 PTO Membership. The directory’s cover features the winner of the artwork contest, 4th grader Emmi Weiker. If you would like access to the online directory and a printed copy, become a PTO member by purchasing a membership on AtoZ Connect.


Shoe Drive- Student council is sponsoring a shoe drive! We have a goal of collecting 100 lightly-used shoes for the needy in our community. Please bring pairs of lightly used shoes and put them in our collection boxes.


Postponed: Middle School Dance: The middle school dance has been postponed until January. More info coming soon.


Holiday Baskets for Senior Resource Center: RMAE will be collecting any men’s and woman’s scarves and toiletry items. Each grade will be assigned a toiletry items -enter your grade and items.  If you would like to donate gift cards or check/money that would also be appreciated. They can be made to Senior Resource Center and brought to the main office.  These funds are used to purchase supplemental and perishable goods.  For a list of items see HERE


Log Your Volunteer Hours - We strive for the 60 hours per family time commitment that was written into our charter by the original founders in 1999. Tracking these hours is fundamental for us to keep our JeffCo School District charter, as well as to obtain grants that will improve our school. Your yearbook staff is back and already at it! We are excited to get this year rolling, and we need your help. One of the biggest areas that we end up lacking in each year is pictures. We have set up a "Community Upload" section of the ordering page. Please share your pictures HERE!   The access code is "RMAE". The website will prompt you to upload and then select a category. RMAE Ski Club Registration is OPEN! CLICK HERE to register for Ski Club.  When: Wednesdays, January 8th-March 18th
Participation Fee: $165-includes instruction & snack
Pass Cost: $99 (mid week or night pass); $149 (6-12yrs); $189 (13+yrs)--purchased through Echo Mountain with discount code All ability levels are welcome!
Join the RMAE Ski Club this year! Professional ski instructor, Olga Marinkina, will lead the group and give lessons. Participants leave directly after school from RMAE, will ski from 4-6pm at Echo Mountain, and will return to RMAE by 6:30pm. Ski equipment may be stored at school on Wednesdays.

To make the club work, Olga will coordinate parent carpooling.  Busing is not available. After filling out this form, participants will receive a code to use at Echo Mountain to purchase a discounted pass, a waiver and additional registration details.

Come join us (PandoraJohn Properties) in donating the gift of life for our inaugural Lifegiving Campaign on November 26 from 12-5 at the Bergen Park Fire Station!  Fun Facts: Each single donation can save up to 3 (yes, 3!) lives! You can donate as much as every 8 weeksIf you recently got a tattoo from a licensed parlor in CO, you can still donate... even if it was yesterday! Denver needs 6,000 donations per week to meet the need!  The greatest need is around the New Year.


Mountain Backpack Program – If you are in need of a hand up to meet the nutritional needs of your family, this program can help. There are no qualification requirements and only contact information is requested.
