Dear RMAE Families,

We strongly believe in the rigor of our Core Knowledge curriculum and how we approach the education of your child.  Therefore, we do not believe there is a need to teach to the state test, spend excess academic time on practice questions, nor create a stressful environment for our school community.  Although preparing our students for the state test is not a focus for us, we continue to meet and exceed the state expectations.  Beginning next week, we will be participating in the Colorado Measurement of Academic Success (CMAS).  The schedule has been created to minimize the impact on our daily routines and students will still be engaged in all the specials that enrich their learning experience.  We will use the results to improve the learning experience and classroom instruction.  Please contact your child’s teacher with questions or for more information.

King Soopers Grocery Card Program Change - Thank you to all who have participated in the King Soopers reloadable grocery card program.  Beginning April 1st, King Soopers will be changing the program and making it a lot easier, no more having to remember to load your gift card!  Giving back to RMAE will be as simple as selecting RMAE in the new Community Rewards program and linking it to your King Soopers loyalty card.  Look for more information about this program and a tutorial on how to link your loyalty card coming out after spring break. 

RMAE's Community Service Day is fast approaching - Friday April 26th - For those new to the school, every year RMAE hosts a day around service. Teaching our kids to give back and to have empathy falls in line with RMAE's Core Virtues.  In years past we have helped not only our school but also the Evergreen community, and our efforts have even reached as far as Guatemala!  This year the school decided to further its endeavor of becoming a certified Green School with Project Learning Tree as the theme of Community Service Day.  Each class has a buddy grade and have been working all year long on their investigations. 

Volunteers Needed - We need coordinators to help teachers finalize ideas for projects for this day and to structure a full day devoted to their investigations. The students, the teachers, and RMAE would appreciate your help.

Young Writers Conference - Thursday, April 11th, 6 - 8:30 pm - Students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade and their families are invited to the  Mountain Area Young Writers’ Conference to celebrate writing! This special night includes:

• Featured Author, Theresa Howell
• Sharing of children’s writing 
• Specialized learning workshops for parents
• Book Fair

Registration is open from March 1st through March 22nd.  Further instructions will be emailed upon registration. Please read all the information carefully!
