Classroom News

 

Students had a Blast at 100 Elk last week!  Additional photos have been uploaded to 100 Elk's website: HERE

  


 

 

Fourth-grade students worked on STEM/Environmental Science on Friday! Students are combining environmental science, math and engineering to create a machine to clean up space trash.

      


 

 

Second grade had their first S.T.E.M. Friday! They created the  "Apple Annihilator". The challenge was: Using apples and school supplies to build an apple wrecking ball to “annihilate” markers (knock them over).


 

 

6th graders wished Mrs. Adams the best of luck for this Saturday's Race!  She is running the Imogene Pass Trail Race from Ouray to Telluride

 

 

RMAE Happenings 

 

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that sometimes you will get a call/email about your child being "tardy" to one or more classes. This is does not necessarily mean that they were tardy at the beginning of the day, it could be any number of their classes during the school day. Please speak with your child about getting to class on time and communicating with their teacher if a tardy does occur.

 PTO to Host it's First Back-To-School Bluegrass Concert!
  Saturday, September 14th, 1-3 pm.  The Bluegrass band, Mo' High, Mo' Lonesome will be performing.  Bring a picnic and join us on the field for this free event for all current RMAE Families.

Parties for a Purpose: 
PTO will be kicking off this new program at our Back to School nights. A Party for a Purpose (PfP) is an event donated by an RMAE family. In most cases, the entire fee for attending a party goes directly to RMAE! Every event, big or small, can make a HUGE difference! Do you have a great idea for a party? Giving Apple: Teachers have given the PTO a wish list of classroom items. Take an apple and purchase the item by Thursday, September 19. These classroom gift items will be presented to the teachers at an assembly on September 27. 

 

 

 


 

 


  Your yearbook staff is back and already at it!
We are excited to get this year rolling, and we need your help. One of the biggest areas that we end up lacking in each year is pictures. We have set up a "Community Upload" section of the ordering page. Please share your pictures HERE!   The access code is "RMAE". The website will prompt you to upload and then select a category. Box Tops: 
The Box Top clipping program is sunsetting, and is being replaced with an online only submission.  Keep clipping the box tops that you have, and we will have a collection in October, and another in early 2010

 

 


 

 

The annual book fair will be held in the RMAE Middle School Commons. Twenty-five percent of profit from all items purchased at the fair will be donated back to RMAE and we will be supporting a great local business!

Grocery Store Fundraisers: 
 King Soopers has launched a new community giving program that is connected to your loyalty card, rather than to a re-loadable gift card. Link your loyalty card to the organization of your choice and shop with King Soopers. Safeway-
Each time you add funds to your re-loadable gift card, 5% will be donated directly to RMAE PTO. For every $100 loaded, ONE HOUR of volunteer time will be credited towards your family's 60 hour volunteer requirement. Order Safeway re-loadable gift cards via www.atozconnect.com. The cost per card is $5 and this amount will be pre-loaded on your card so you will get a full refund the first time you use the card. FroYo Fridays begin September 13th!   IMPORTANT: Deadline to purchase for the 1st semester is Friday, September 6th.  Twice a month Frozen Yogurt cups from Hearthfire will be offered during lunch period.  Proceeds from sales go to 6th grade trips.  Sixth grade parent volunteers are needed to assist in serving. AtoZ Connect Verification: In preparation for publishing the RMAE family directory, we are asking all our families to go into AtoZ Connect and verify their contact information for the new school year. Go to AtoZ Connect (www.atozconnect.com) and click on the Login button on the top right. Enter your credentials to log in. (If you forgot your username or password, click on the “Forgot Password?” link. You will be presented with a wizard that will walk you through the verification process. 

If you are new to RMAE, go to AtoZ Connect www.atozconnect.com and click on the Login button on the top right. Click on the “Don’t have an account? Signup Now” link at the bottom of the panel. Fill out and submit the form. New signups require administrator approval.

Mountain Backpack Program – If you are in need of a hand up to meet the nutritional needs of your family, this program can help. There are no qualification requirements and only contact information is requested.

West Jeff Baseball - September 15th - 8-14 yr Boys & Girls - Tryouts for Spring Baseball Competitive League will be held at Evergreen High School.

Sleep Workshop -  September 24th at 6 PM.  Sleep is a complex process that restores and renews our bodies. Good sleep habits will optimize this process for our physical and emotional well-being. The LeanIn1220.org group will help us understand the importance of sleep habits, sleep hygiene, diet and exercise to create a path of healthy restoration and sound sleep for years to come.  Snacks will be provided.
