Principal's Note

Dear RMAE Families,

Our weekly newsletter is being sent to you a bit earlier this week to help remind you of our Carnival this Friday, April 20th from 5:30 to 7:30.  It is sure to be a fun family evening!  All of our classes have chosen a fun activity that students will help run.  These booths consist of traditional games such as ring toss, face painting, cake walk to others like fortune telling, potato launching, and tie dying.  There are plenty more activities and even a petting zoo!  In addition, each class will have an academic showcase with student artifacts in each building.  Stop in and see what your student and all the others have been up to.  If you haven’t heard about our penny wars and who may get to kiss a snake or get a pie in the face, please ask your child.  It has been all the talk this week!

Volunteers are still Needed - See below for sign-ups.

One aspect of our community that I can’t brag enough about is our inclusiveness.  I have witnessed families and students join us after the year began be taken in as if they were here all along.  It is because of this, and the fact we are all so proud of our school, that we have invited our new families who will be joining us next year and prospective families, to see first-hand, our great school community.  When you see them, please welcome them to our amazing RMAE family!

Speaking of our RMAE family, we have a meet and greet for candidates interested in joining our Board of Directors, on Monday, April 23rd at 6:00.  In order for you to get to know them and their views better, we will be asking all candidates a series of questions.  I need to know what you want to hear about.  Please send me questions for the candidates by this Friday – [email protected]

Your proud Principal,
Dr. Ann Hudson

Teacher News & Middle School Field Day

CINDERELLA - CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to Gretchen Moritz, her assistant and all of the parent volunteers who helped put together another successful theater production, Cinderella!   Congratulations also go out to the cast and crew!  The show was delightfully entertaining.  The vocals were incredible.  The students who participated are fortunate to be under Gretchen's tutelage, an amazing teacher who brings out the very best in her students.  PHOTOS were not available at the time of publication.  Look for photos in a future newsletter.

CONGRATULATIONS to Lynette Adams (6th Grade Teacher)!!  Lynette finished the Boston Marathon in 4:04:19!  If you do the math, that is under 10 minute miles for 26 miles!  She shared, "The weather was monsoon, freezing wind, and rain and I had a hard time holding a decent pace but it was an amazing experience!!"

Mr. Bryant attempts to visit the ISS - Scott K. wouldn't open the hatch!

Middle School Olympic Field Day - Many thanks to Lisa Best for organizing this event and to the parent volunteers who came out to make this a fun day for our middle school students!

SPIRIT WEEK!  Next Week -  Our Student Council has been working hard to organize an assembly next Wednesday.  In anticipation of Community Service Day AND the assembly, we are going to have a free dress spirit week for all grades. Here are the guidelines for each day of the week:

Monday-- Element Day (earth, wind, fire, and water!  Dress as your favorite element. Example: Fire would wear red and have flame pants.)

Tuesday -- Hippie Tuesday (Dress as a stereotypical, environmentalist hippy! Example: Bust out the tie-dye and wavy hair!)

Wednesday-- Water Wednesday/Hawaiian Day (Dress in blue or Hawaiian themed clothing to remember the importance of the ocean and water conservation!)

On Wednesday during the assembly, the students in each class will pick the "best dressed" to go up and represent their class for a school-wide fashion show!  This is not a fundraiser-- students do not need to pay to participate :)
