Art is a great subject because it is so different from the other subjects! As long as you are trying your best and following the guidelines, there is no right or wrong way to create something! I love to see how each person's take on an art project is different from someone else's. Everyone has different thoughts, ideas, experiences, and backgrounds, and you can express that in your art. Use art to connect to other people and share your awesome ideas. Let your creative side explode!
I am so excited to be at RMAE for my 5th year of teaching art. I have experience teaching PreK through 8th grade students from where I was before, so I have a good understanding of how children develop their creative skills, and what is good to practice at the right age. my favorite subject is painting, because it is relaxing and just feels great, and you can use paint to create so many different effects. I like to do alot of drawing and painting, but also other mediums like weaving, clay, printing, paper sculpture, and more because everyone has their art process that speaks to them. Being in school, students should dip their feet in a little bit of everything to see where they really shine.
I moved to Colorado 2 years ago, mostly to live by the mountains and Red Rocks Amphitheater, where I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, and concerts. I love living here! I grew up in Maryland and occasionally go back to visit my family. I graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art with a Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2015. Ever since then, I've been following my dreams being an art teacher and living in Colorado!
