In and Out of the Classroom

7th & 8th Grade At the Clyfford Still Museum - Seventh-grade students wrote poetry in response to the art in the museum to go along with their poetry unit.  Eighth-grade students learned how artists sometimes make art in response to the art of other artists. Then they made their own art in response to the Abstract Expressionist art of Clyfford Still.

At the Central Library 7th and 8th grade students learned how to use the Denver Public Library databases to find articles, books, primary sources, etc. and how to get help from librarians 24/7 when doing research online.  While at the library, students had time to do some research for their history reports.

Spring Music Concert - So proud of our elementary students!  They did a fabulous job and had so much fun in the process.

Middle School Olympics

The afternoon was capped off with a game of Kickball - 8th-Grade vs. Staff!  We're not talking about who won...

CLEAN OUT YOUR DESK For Students in Need!  Student Council has started a new program at our school - Clean Out Your Desk!  The last week of school we will be giving the students a chance to donate their used supplies.  We will then be taking them to schools in need.  We will be accepting all supplies:  pencils, pens, markers, highlighters, crayons, rulers, calculators, folders, binders, notebooks, glue, whatever!  Parents, please share this information with your student(s) and let them know if they have permission to donate their supplies.

We will need a couple of volunteers to sort out the supplies.  Please contact Betsy Bartelt ([email protected])  if you are able to help sort the supplies or if you have any questions.  We will be doing the sorting on Wednesday afternoon May 23rd from 1-3 pm in the middle school commons.

Thanks in Advance for your contributions!

Student Fees Payment Reminder -  All student fees must be paid in full by the end of the school year.  All unpaid fees become fines after May 24th.  Please contact Deb Kelley at [email protected] with questions.

Lost and Found - Parents please stop by to check out our Lost and Found collection.  All remaining lost and found items will be donated to charity at the close of the school year.

Outgrown Uniform Items - Please bring in outgrown uniform items.  Items collected will be stored over the summer and will be added to the uniform swap.  The uniform swap will take place at the Ice Cream Social on Friday, August 16th.  This is an opportunity for families to 'shop' for FREE dress code clothing articles.  The Uniform Coordinator is Julia Corrin 571-409-4338.

Library Volunteers Needed - If you are interested in earning volunteer hours toward next year, the library team can use your help with cleanup and stocking new books at your convenience throughout the summer.  Please contact Jamie Richards if interested -  [email protected].

Thank you to all families who expressed interest in donating your gently used books.  Donations may be dropped off in the library only between May 6 and May 17.  Please help your fellow parent volunteers who run the library by limiting your donations to school-age appropriate books in good condition.  Please do not donate other media besides books, adult level content, or books in disrepair.

RMAE Reminders

Musical Instrument Interest Survey - We want to hear from you!  We are exploring the possibility of expanding our music programs for the 2019-2020 school year.  Does your student have a hidden desire to learn to play a new instrument?  Maybe they are already an accomplished player but looking for an additional outlet to practice and perform in a larger group.  Please take a moment, along with your student, to complete the Musical Instrument Interest Survey linked below to give us an idea of the interest level at RMAE.  Thank you!
