RMAE Happenings

Hello RMAE families,

There are three ballot measures in November that pertain to education funding.  One is statewide and the other two are Jefferson County specific.  On Tuesday at 6:30 pm, I will be hosting an informational session on the three measures, how they would be funded, and if they pass what it would mean for RMAE.  The goal is not to be political nor persuade one way or the other, only to give factual information.  If you would like information regarding these funding measures, please plan to attend Tuesday in the cafeteria.  In the meantime, Jeffco has put together this informational webpage that you may want to peruse.

Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Ann Hudson

Classroom News

2nd Grade - 'Build a Bug' - Students had the opportunity to build a bug from scratch.  Students initially rolled a die to determine the size, shape, the habit and characteristics of their bug. Students then used their background knowledge from their home room teacher, Mrs. Grose, and their imagination to begin creating. Using recycled materials and craft supplies, each student built their own imaginary bug.

2nd Grade - Along with bug building, 2nd grade students launched their butterflies this week.  All this buggy business is part of their insect studies.

Student Council -  Elections were held and the new Executive Board positions chosen.

Back row:  Presidenet - Leighla Riemma, VP - Mia Triplett, Secretary - Kaylee Kipp, Treasurer - Brody March, Assistant Treasurer - Xavier Gomez (kneeling), Charlotte K - Assistant Communications Director, and Aspyn Wyant - Communications Director.

Community News Reminders

Wait Until 8th - Interested in learning more about the 'Wait Until 8th' movement in Evergreen?  The 'Wait Until 8th' is a national movement, which empowers parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least 8th grade.  By banding together, this will decrease the pressure felt by kids and parents alike over the kids having a smartphone.  Currently, there are over 100 parent members throughout all Evergreen schools in our local Evergreen chapter of this national movement.  Stop by for their quarterly meeting at Bergen Meadow gym on Monday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m.  There will be a panel of teenagers there to answer questions you may have as to the pros/cons, etc. of smartphone use and how it has impacted their lives.  Tracy Denver, the leader of this chapter, is looking for a RMAE parent representative - if interested, contact [email protected].  If people are interested in being a part of the loop, getting the occasional informative e-mail and want to be in the know for meetings, possible speakers, etc.....they need to be on this Sign-Up.

Teens and Food Allergies - There is a local Teen Food Allergy conference for teens 13 to 19 years old on Saturday, September 22nd.  Food Allergy management can often be tougher in the teen years, due to the peer pressure and the stretching of boundaries.  Kids learn a great deal about managing their allergies and bond with other teens facing similar challenges.  They hear from other teens and adults, how important carrying their Epinephrine is.   There is no cost but space is limited and advanced registration by Sept 20th is required.
