Message from the Principal

Hello RMAE Families,

We had a fantastic first week!  Thank you for being a part of our RMAE community.  You and your children are what makes us special and we are honored you have entrusted them with us.

Students are getting accustomed to their routine and have jumped in with lots of energy and excitement.  Our first day kick off was an absolute success with a school wide picnic and green investigations.  As a STEM school, our teachers wanted to bring more outdoor education to RMAE.  In 2017 all our teachers were trained in Project Learning Tree(PLT), one of the premier environmental education programs in the world.  We committed to teach a PLT activity each year and participate in a yearly forestry project in the community.  By doing so, RMAE become a Colorado State Project Learning Tree School and received the Aldo Leopold Bench which you see in front of the library. Building on this recognition, this year our school will work towards becoming a Project Learning Tree Green School.  In order to accomplish this goal, every class is paired up with a Buddy Class as a Green Team. Each team is in charge of one of 5 Green Investigations – Energy, Environmental Quality, Water, Waste & Recycling, and School Site. These investigations will make our school greener and healthy.   Below are a few pictures of our students working together.

I look forward to sharing more great news with you throughout the year!

Your proud Principal,
Dr. Ann Hudson

RMAE Happenings

Welcome Back to School!  This week's newsletter is especially lengthy.  Please continue to scroll down where you will find general school information, volunteer opportunities, school calendar export instructions, a fabulous array of after-school club/activities, and must know PTO information.

Library Volunteers Needed - We are fortunate to have had a group of parents who took on a library re-organization project.  The goal is to make our library more user friendly for our students.  They worked throughout the summer but, the project required much more time than initially anticipated.  Currently, the library is closed until the project is completed. Our students need your help!  We are seeking volunteers to help organize the books.  The only prior knowledge required is putting things in alpha order!  If you are able to spare some time, please let us know by completing this Library Volunteer Form.  Thank you for supporting RMAE and helping to make it an even better place!

Back to School Nights - Please mark your calendars for back to school night:

Sign up to become a member
The PTO is a team effort in which we cannot succeed on our own. Becoming a member does not mean you automatically sign up to volunteer; it just means that you support our group and believe in what we’re doing. Thank you to the families who have already signed up this year. We appreciate you!

This year, your PTO membership fees will not only include the student directory, you will also receive a complimentary grocery card to King Soopers or Safeway — use it to buy groceries or gas and our school receives 5% of what you spend, It’s so easy! Last year we raised over $15,000!

Get Involved in the PTO
We meet the 2nd Monday of each month after drop off in the conference room. Our next meeting is September 10.  Please join us — we would love to have you attend!

Become a Volunteer
A special thanks to all our volunteers from last year for all their hard work and dedication. We are always in need of volunteers. It’s a fun and easy way to support your child’s education and make our school successful! Our school is founded on a strong volunteer base, providing our staff and students with the added support needed to make our school a great place. We strive for the 60 hours per family time commitment that was written into our charter by the original founders in 1999.
Recorded parent volunteer hours = school grants!

On behalf of the RMAE PTO, we would once again like to extend a warm welcome and best wishes for a successful school year. Please do not hesitate to contact Tiffany Fontaine ([email protected]) with any questions.
