Dear RMAE families,
It sure has been wonderful having the students back on campus.  Their positive energy, smiles, and enthusiasm has been very infectious!  Along those lines, I have some exciting updates to share.
During drop off or pickup you may have noticed more outdoor tables.  We were fortunate to be awarded a grant and were able to purchase 36 additional picnic tables!  These have been placed to expand the outdoor lunch space as well as provide additional outdoor classroom options.  Thank you to the families who helped assemble these so our students could immediately enjoy them.
We have also purchased thermometers for each classroom teacher to conduct temperature checks as the students enter the room.  For safety reasons, students will enter through the front doors when there is snow and ice on the ground.  Students then immediately go to their homeroom class for screening.  We have supervision in all hallways to support distancing and cohort separation.
Lastly, we have been approved to conduct Binax rapid COVID tests for our staff.  We received the testing kits last week from CDPHE and have already begun regular testing of staff.  The goal is to identify potential asymptomatic staff who would then immediately leave campus and get a PCR test.  This is yet another preventive measure we are implementing for the safety of our school community.
Thank you for all you do to support our school community.  I look forward to a successful second semester

Campus Happenings
We would like to sincerely thank the following families that came to help Mr Wellman assemble the new picnic tables last week: Knopf, Graybill, Bruneau, Edmonds, Daly, Faulkner, Irons, Yost, and Vandenberge. What a huge help! The students were so thrilled to have this additional outdoor seating around campus. There are 4 tables left to assemble. Please come lend a helping hand!
Trail running elective with super happy sixth graders! They love being back to school!
Las doce uvas de la suerte, "The twelve grapes of luck" is a Spanish tradition that consists of eating a grape with each clock bell strike at midnight of December 31 to welcome the New Year. ... According to the tradition, eating the twelve grapes leads to a year of good luck and prosperity.

5th grade made New Year’s Crowns and wrote down their resolutions in Spanish. We then cut and stapled our Spanish resolutions to the rim of the crown

Educate Your Elected Officials On Charter Schools Today
As Colorado's legislative session gets set to begin this week, we must continue to use our voice to positively impact charter schools and their students. Please see the following link to send a preformatted letter, or if you’d prefer, you can customize it as you see fit. This simple task will help lay the groundwork for what we hope to be another successful legislative session for charter schools this spring. Decision Framework and Supporting Indicators for COVID-19
Over the holiday break, the RMAE Board approved the Decision Framework and Supporting Indicators document developed by the Board’s Ad Hoc Indicators Committee following a recommendation during the November 16th Special Session of the Board. The Decision Framework uses a series of public health, community, and school indicators to drive evidence-based decisions concerning the transition to/from remote learning at RMAE due to COVID-19 in the community. Families are welcome to view this document on the RMAE website, as well as a separate listing and description of the indicators. In addition, data collected for each of the indicators will be posted on Friday afternoons to the same location.

My name is Kimball Boyle and I am a sophomore at Evergreen High School. I attended RMAE from 1st-8th grade and I currently have 3 siblings still there. I have been nominated to participate in the Students of the Year Campaign 2021 with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. High school students across the country learn communication, management, and financial stewardship through raising funds used by LLS for research, advocacy, and access to treatments for blood cancers. I will be competing against other Colorado high schoolers to raise as much money for patients with blood cancers as possible during the campaign donation window of January 7th- February 27th. My personal goal is to raise $50,000. It’s a lofty goal, but I am willing to work hard to reach it. I cannot do it alone, I need your help. Please click on the link which will take you directly to my fundraising page. Kimball Boyle
