Classroom News

       

First-grade students got the opportunity to show what they know in the RMAE Makerspace! Students worked together to create a functioning model of a human arm out of cardboard and their new cardboard construction kits.

 


 

 

The Survival  Elective ventured into Elk Meadow! The task was to build an emergency survival shelter for themselves with only supplies that they could find around them.  They'll head back next week to finish up!

     


 

 

Students learned the basics of programming as they worked through robotics challenges in Mr. Dunbar's 8th Grade Tech Class. 

          


 

Students learned the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish in Ms. Lasater's Class! 


     


 

7th Grade Prepared for Readers Theater for Edgar Allan Poe’s “Tell Tale Heart.” They practiced their lines and blocked the scenes that they’ll perform on Monday!

Hello RMAE families,

I am looking forward to seeing you at our first community event of the year.  Tomorrow, Saturday, Mo’High, Mo’ Lonesome will be performing from 1-3pm.  Bring a picnic and join us on the field for this free event for current RMAE families.  In order for everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy the concert, tents, canopies, alcohol and pets are not allowed.  Many thanks to PTO for hosting!
Thank you to all who took time last week to learn more about RMAE at our Back to School Nights.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.  Otherwise, put our parent-teacher conferences on your calendar.  They will be held on October 9th 4-8pm and Oct 10th 1-6pm.

   PTO to Host it's First Back-To-School Bluegrass Concert! 
Join us for RMAE's First Bluegrass Concert THIS Saturday, September 14th, from 1-3 pm. ! Bring a picnic and join us on the field for this free event for all current RMAE Families!!!   The Bluegrass band, Mo' High, Mo' Lonesome will be performing.  Parking is limited, so please car pool if possible. The concert location will be on our athletic field.  You can bring lawn chairs and blankets.  Please no easy-ups, tents or anything that needs to be staked into the groundPicnic food will be allowed. Please no alcohol and no pets.

Giving Apple: The Giving Apple is in full swing! 
Teachers have given the PTO a wish list of classroom items. These requests range from butterfly larva to teaching clocks to digital microscopes-"the extras."  These items create an incredible environment and experience set apart from other schools in our community. Please consider helping fulfill these requests by Thursday, September 19. Please use this FORM and put your name next to the item/s you would like to purchase and use the link to order. These classroom gift items will be presented to the teachers at an assembly on September 27. 

 

 


 

 


Student Art Contest:
The annual search for artwork for the cover of the student Directory is underway. All artwork needs to be on un‐lined white paper and submitted to the front office by 3 p.m. on September 19. Each work of art will be displayed (anonymously) in the art room during the following week and students will vote on their favorite.  Next Tuesday, September 17th Ms. Pumphrey will offer a student workshop in the Art Room after school until 4:00 pm for students interested in participating in the Student Art Contest

Student Pickup Reminder:
 All students must be picked up in the circle.  As good neighbors to our friends at the Synagogue, please refrain from picking up the students at their facility.

Also, please refrain from bringing dogs outside on school grounds during pickup.

 

 

 


 


SPIRIT WEAR, HOODIES & FIELD TRIP SHIRTS – UPDATE: 
Spirit Wear & Hoodie orders are currently in production and will be delivered to students around October 1st.  Field Trip Shirts ordered prior to 9/5 have been delivered to students.  Orders placed after that time will be delivered in the next 1-3 weeks. The order period for Spirit Wear and Hoodies has now closed.  However, limited stock of Spirit Wear shirts are available on AtoZ (sizes Youth Large through Adult).  Field Trip shirts are also available on AtoZ year round (allow 1-3 weeks for delivery).

Parties for a Purpose: 
PTO will be kicking off this new program at our Back to School nights. A Party for a Purpose (PfP) is an event donated by an RMAE family. In most cases, the entire fee for attending a party goes directly to RMAE! Every event, big or small, can make a HUGE difference! Do you have a great idea for a party? It’s not too late to sign up for orchestra! 
Would your kiddo like to play violin, viola, cello, or bass in RMAE’s orchestra? RMAE’s orchestra welcomes students in grades 3-8 with all levels of experience. Beginning orchestra rehearses on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15. Intermediate orchestra rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:15-5:15.

Your yearbook staff is back and already at it! We are excited to get this year rolling, and we need your help. One of the biggest areas that we end up lacking in each year is pictures. Each time you add funds to your re-loadable gift card, 5% will be donated directly to RMAE PTO. The cost per card is $5 and this amount will be pre-loaded on your card so you will get a full refund the first time you use the card. BINGO is back at the Wild Game!
 Our next BINGO will be Thursday, October 10; doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the games start at 6:30. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Bring the family — participants do not need to be 18 to play Bingo. (The bingo cards need to be purchased by someone 18 and older.) Community News

 

 

Every Kid Outdoors Program for Fourth Graders:  Incoming students entering 4th grade this fall may see America's natural wonders and historic sites for FREE between September 1, 2019, and August 31, 2020.  To receive a pass, eligible students must participate in an online activity on the Every Kid Outdoors website, download a paper voucher with a unique identification number, visit a pass issuing site, and exchange their unique paper voucher for the actual pass. This annual pass gives the fourth grader and her/his accompanying family free access for an entire year to more than 2,000 federally managed lands and waters nationwide where interagency passes are issued and accepted.

 

 


 

Mountain Backpack Program – If you are in need of a hand up to meet the nutritional needs of your family, this program can help. There are no qualification requirements and only contact information is requested.

Sleep Workshop -  September 24th at 6 PM.  Sleep is a complex process that restores and renews our bodies. Good sleep habits will optimize this process for our physical and emotional well-being. The LeanIn1220.org group will help us understand the importance of sleep habits, sleep hygiene, diet and exercise to create a path of healthy restoration and sound sleep for years to come.  Snacks will be provided.
