A message from the Principal

Dear RMAE families,

It has been great to have all of our students back on campus!  Their energy and positive vibe have been infectious for all of us.  I was told one morning, “this place is like Mayberry – it’s so happy!”  I couldn’t agree more.  To say RMAE is a great place to be is one of the biggest understatements I could make!

On August  10th we had over 100 volunteers join us in our community workday.  Many projects were completed that gave our campus a much-needed face-lift.  A huge shout out to all of you for your dedication and volunteerism!

Each Friday you will receive our school newsletter, the “Grizzly Growl.”  Please take a moment to read through as there will be a lot of information about school happenings.

Your Proud Principal,

Ann Hudson

RMAE Happenings

Back-to-School Nights - Please note the date changes from the previously published back-to-school nights.  In order to help alleviate campus congestion, we have moved 5th grade to the middle school night. Mark your calendars:

Grades K-4 – Wednesday, September 4, 6-7:30 pm
Grades 5-8 – Tuesday, September 3, 6-7:30 pm

New Security System - Student Building Access

Middle School Students - During the 1st-period class each morning, middle school students will be issued their access security card 'Key' on a lanyard.   Students will use these cards to access their building and the administrative building throughout the school day.  At the close of the day, teachers will collect the cards.  If the student has misplaced the card and is unable to return it to their teacher, a fee of $10 will be charged to that student.  This fee must be paid before another key is issued to that student.

Elementary School Students - Elementary students will not be issued their own 'key' cards.  When not with their class/teacher, they will use either the doorbells, located at each entrance, or a security card that may be temporarily issued by their teacher to gain access to buildings.

RMAE to Host it's First Back-To-School Bluegrass Concert!  Saturday, September 14th, 1-3 pm.  The Bluegrass band, Mo' High, Mo' Lonesome will be performing.  Bring a picnic and join us on the field for this free event for all current RMAE Families.

Lunchroom Help Needed - We are looking for people to help with our hot lunch service beginning after Labor Day for 1 to 4 days a week, 11 am to 3 pm.  Interested?  Email Dr. Hudson - [email protected]

Bingo Night - Thursday, September 5th @ The Wild Game - Fun for the whole family!  Participants do not need to be 18 to play Bingo.  However, the bingo cards need to be purchased by someone 18 and older and then the cards can be gifted to the under 18-year-old, as long as they have a receipt.  Any payout needs to be presented to the individual who purchased the card and must be over 18 years old.  Pickles may also be purchased using the same guidelines as stated above.  To get involved, please contact Tiffany Fontaine - [email protected].

    RMAE Board Message

Family Summary of August 2019 Board of Directors Meeting

The RMAE Board of Directors met on the evening of Thursday, August 8.  Among other business, new officers were elected, and last year’s officers were thanked for their service.  Congratulations to this year's officers: Jim Good, President, Katie Beach, Vice President, Ginger Arnold, Secretary, and Tiffani Packer, Treasurer.

We also received a tour of facility improvements made over the summer to improve safety, security, appearance, and function.  As families return to school, we think you’ll find an incredible amount of work has been completed.

Exciting news was shared regarding both enrollment and finances that are great indicators for the long-term health of our school.  Projected enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year is approximately 320 students, 30 students ahead of the enrollment growth goal set in the Strategic Plan.  Meanwhile, our Standard & Poor’s rating has increased from B- to B+ and is expected to continue to rise based on several successes, such as last year’s paydown of the larger of 2 bonds used to construct our facilities, the financial benefit of higher than projected enrollment numbers, and the establishment of financial reserves which will help us meet our next capital improvement goals.

The Board also voted to reconstitute previously dormant committees: Policy & Bylaws, and Technology.  We agreed to prioritize signing up new members for all committees.  (The remainder are School Accountability, Finance, Marketing, Facilities, and Capital Development.)  Please contact us at [email protected] for more information and to get involved any time of year!  Our next meeting is on September 12, and we would welcome your participation.
